Classic 2012 winter Series Results Race 2 and series points status (Posted 22.5.12)

Dear Skippers and Crews of the Classic 2012 Winter Series

Attached are yesterdays race, Race 2, results plus the aggregated points score for the 2012 Winter Series.

Although yesterdays weather conditions were not ideal for racing, the good news was we had a racing fleet made up of 23 on water starters.

The highlight of the race was the light wind performance exhibition of the Tums by Doug Jenkin on the helm of Ettrick. Our fleet leaders received a light wind sailing lesson.. Ellida with Charlie Salter on her helm also sent a Tum message to the fleet. Good to see Boambillee return to the podium.

Throughout the fleet each yacht, except for one, reported on times during the race when they started to gain on nearby yachts and then falling off due to conditions. The one starter who couldn’t complain was the 1923 A classer, Acrospire III. who blitzed the field on elapsed time.

Commiserations to those on the yachts that had the race finish time gate shut on them, particularly to our good friends on Martini, who had it slammed in their faces.

There’s a Sail World article about the race, plus some photos, at this address.

Now for the handicap readjustment.

Some general news.

The exec committee has appointed a working group to look after the 2012 Cup Regatta.

Your President and Handicapper have taken on the role of farming out the considerable number of tasks needed to be sorted out prior to and during the Regatta.

A list of the Regatta orientated tasks will be soon generated, we’ll be asking for support.

We have our usual list of suspects who have always stepped up to support the Regatta.

The more logistical support from our members the stronger the Regatta.

So to our next race on June 3

Regards to all
