Classics 2012 Winter Series Race 6 (Postponed) Comments (Posted 6.8.12)

Dear Skippers and Crews of our 2012 Winter Series

When two tugs are being set up to hold a car carrier car to the Webb Dock wharf in a Northerly you know that maybe, the right decision was made to postpone the Sunday race. Even the Royals committee boat ”Thorsen” was tied down in the hard stand pond in expectation of the big blow that didn’t really happen.

Irrespective of the disappointment, we harden up and live to race another day with our boats in one piece. Two more races to decide who takes out our Winter Series, Aug 19 and Sept 2. Then a break with Oct 7, the first race of our 2012/2013 Summer Series.

Note, as the August 5 race 6 was postponed by the conducting club, RYCV. Our next race, Aug 19, will be identified as race 6 and conducted by Hobsons Bay YC.

The 2012 Winter Series point score is still based on a one race, worst score drop. The 2012 Winter Series NOR Para 7.2 applies.

Moving On

The NOR and entry form for the Classics 2012/2013 Summer Series will be published after the Aug 19 Winter Series race.

The Classic Associations Race and Regatta schedule to the end of 2013 is now available for check out on our web site calendar. Courtesy of Scott McDonald.

“The Cup Regatta” organising continues.

Attached are our Cup Regatta publicity notices. The A3 poster and the double sided A4 tri-fold programme brochure for display at the keel boats around the bay. RGYC will put one on display tomorrow. A couple are in the Williamstown Info centre in Commonwealth Reserve. Put your hand up for a poster if aware of a worthwhile location available to tell the world about our Cup Regatta. The prints are better quality than the attachments.

The Regatta NOR has been developed, it’s with the Royals Race Director. The Regatta entry form will be available when the NOR is published. Generation of the Regatta SI’s and courses is taking place in co-ordination with the Royals Race Director.

Regatta handicaps? No problems. You’ll be looked after by that handicapper you all know and love.

Our Classic pennants, likewise are happening. Unlike the Flying Dutchman, they will arrive. The fortnightly status call tells us local football premierships also require flying regalia.

On the financial scene.

David McKenzie will soon be hitting on us for Subscription renewals.

Regards to all
