CYAA 2014 Winter Series Race 2 Entries and Sailing Instructions

Attached is the list of entries with their allocated handicaps plus the Sailing Instructions for Race 2 of the Classic’s 2014 Winter Series.

The race will be conducted for the Association by the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria under the control of Race Director David LeRoy.

Not much in the way of handicap changes. The first 3 placing from Race 1 received some handicap reassessment attention along with the last placing.

Analysis of the previous performance of each entrant, based on the average of the last 5 back calculated handicaps and the overall average of the changed handicap calculations, shows the allocated handicap for each entrant for Race 2 is close to or within these two average calculations.

As much as the handicapper would like to perform surgery on some handicaps, consistency must rule.

Our after race BBQ with those Donati’s of Lygon Street premium meats will be held at the RYCV with a $10 pp serving. Roger Dundas and Anne Batson will be at the tongs with those excellent Cookie Restaurant fried onions supplied by Karen Batson. Salads and chips will be available from the RYCV kitchen menu.

So back to racing this Sunday, 10:30am. We live in hope for sea conditions that allow more of our Classic Yacht fleet make it to the start line that were able to for Race 1.

Below is an image from 1959 of a Tumlare’ T4 Cygnet racing on Georgian Bay, Vancouver.  The image was received through the efforts of Roger Dundas, Avian and Charley Salter, Ellida, to re-establish connections with North American Tumlare’ fleet owners and skippers. The principle Tumlare’ yacht club in Canada was the Queen City Yacht Club of Toronto. This yacht club is currently celebrating their 125th year of existence.  Till 1964 there was a biennial Tumlare’ regatta between the Queen City Yacht Club and the Columbian Yacht Club of Chicago for the Babson Cup.

Regards to all
