CYAA 2013 Winter Series Race 7 Pursuit start. Entries, start times and sailing instructions

Attached are the CYAA 2013 Winter Series Race 7 Pursuit Race Group Start times and the relevant Sailing Instructions scheduled to start at 10:30 am on Sept 8. With light conditions predicted, efforts will be made to prevent the race becoming a slow running fiasco.

As previously indicated there was an invite for crews from the tall ships to sail with our fleet. Numbers taking up this invite are low. For those Tall ship people that take up the invite, a sort out session will be held on the Royals lawn about 9:00am.

The Tall Ships event organisers are anxious for a good turn out by the Classic fleet to take part in the Admiral Sailing event scheduled for Thursday Sept 12. A package of information about this event has been attached. For logistic reasons the event organisers have asked the Association for potential numbers that will take part in the Sept 12 event asap. This is an exotic and unique sailing event that will have Sailing Ships and Classic Yachts executing sailing manouveres together. Probably such an occasion will not be repeated in Australia again. An excellent opportunity to show the world, Melbourne’s fleet of Classic Yachts. Skippers of intending yachts can inform the handicapper of their intentions. If crew shortages are a problem we can put a call out to other clubs for people.

The attached event info package also includes details about the departure Parade of Sail on Saturday Sept 14.

Next Monday, the 2013/2014 Summer Series Notice of Race and entry form will be sent out.

Some additional info for race 7.

To refresh memories, attached are the aggregate and ML III trophy points status after Race 6. As race 7 scheduled for Aug 18 was postponed till Sept 8 there will be no worst race result discard for the best boat of the series calculations.

Those observant types amongst us will notice an old stager showing up in Sundays fleet. In to spirit of the Tall Ships visit, Michael MacTavish will be subbing his Couta boat Ella for Serifa.

The Geelong Wooden Boat Festival organisers have sent out their Notice of Race and event entry documentation. The info is yet to make it to their Web site, they have been successful in arranging for RGYC to conduct a races for Tumlare’s and Couta Boats from Portarlington to Geelong. scheduled for March 8 2014 starting at 12 noon. Event entry is $50 and dinner @ $50.00 for 150 places.

It’s all go for Sunday.
