2014 CYAA Winter Series Race 5 August 5 Starters, Handicaps and Sailing Instructions

Attached are the Entries and Sailing instructions for the 2014 CYAA Winter Series Race 5 scheduled to start this Sunday, August 17, at 10:30am. The race will be conducted for the Association by the Hobsons Bay Yacht Club.

Looking at the current forecast of the wind and sea conditions on Port Phillip for Sunday the key word here is “scheduled”.  Keep the VHF Channel 73 open for race start and course status from the HBYC Race committee vessel “Privateer”

Our “always out there racing” member Andy Indrans is presently preparing Corio Vertue for her voyage to next year’s Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart. To still be in the middle of our Classic Yacht racing this Sunday, Andy will be on the water in the HBYC Rescue boat, “Shirley Freeman” recording images of our fleet.  Doesn’t matter what Sundays sea conditions will be, the adrenalin runs free when we bring our forever young Classic Yachts up to hit the line on the gun. Let’s see what Classic Yacht racing images Andy brings back?

Last week a number of our CYAA members attended the Couta Boat Association AGM to promote our 2014 Cup Regatta.  Apart from a good time being had by all the subject of finding ways where both the CYAA and CBA can operate together was discussed. Early days yet but it’s a start.

Some other local news about our Classic Yachts.

Peter Johns has Frances, the International 8 Metre, up in the Royal’s yard for some makeover work and an electric motor installation.

Peter Lloyds Marie Louise III continues to perform in the RYCV Wednesday Winter Series pursuit start races.

The 90 year old racer, still with her winning ways, Alwyn with your handicapper directing the deck work assisted by Ian Rose of Cyan, Alex Howard a soon to be new CYAA member and Fredo Dirk, custodian of Stan Gibsons H 28 Four Winds  and with  Peter Lloyd of Marie Louise III on the helm, took out first place in the recent Hobsons Bay Brass Monkey Winter Series.

Any member with local CYAA Classic Yacht racing or otherwise news of what their Classic Yacht is doing let’s know. That way we can all know and spread the Classic Yacht word.

Remember for an opportunity to contribute to the Classic Yachting Australia cause then look no further. Roger Dundas is your go. Contact Roger for details about obtaining a chart that has all the northern Port Phillip marks pertinent to the courses used for our classic Yacht racing. Roger M Dundas (rogermdundas@gmail.com)
