2013/2014 Classic’s Summer Series Race 1 Oct 6

Welcome all to Race 1 of our 2013/2014 Summer Series of Classic Yacht racing.

Another great line up of entrants. We will again be able to watch that favorite of ours Lily Guy, the 1895 Corio Bay netboat, under the helm of Bil Johnstone take the fleet on again. Some regular starters will miss the first race. Travelling and the recent wild weather are the prime reasons. Trim the Ohlsen 35, from Sandringham, helmed by Phil Aitkins will be going us for a full series of racing for the first time.

Attached are the Race 1 Sailing Instructions and the Entrants with their allocated handicaps.

If your yacht is not on the entry list and you intend racing in the series use the attached entry form and let both David McKenzie and myself know pronto.

Small bit of yard news. Attached is what’s been keeping the handicapper busy for the last 10 days in the HBYC yard. In the background can be seen Rod Fullers H28 Shamrock receiving some attention to the cabin. We also heard our other Ohlsen, Corsair from HBYC was damaged during the wild wind on Tuesday. Renene’s still receiving the final touches of her deck makeover from Ferdy Darly while in the RYCV yard, Doug Hem has given a substantial face lift to Marie Louise III and Tandanya. Jim Wood tells us Windward II will be all set up ready for a Regatta appearance. Word has also been received that the Tumlare, Snowgoose, is now receiving the water soak treatment after a substantial rebuild in preparation to joining up with our fleet.

Regatta entries have been coming in. We have 12 Kiwi’s from the CYANZ coming over to race with us and the list of sponsors lining up to be part of our Regatta is growing. More Regatta news next week.

So for now it’s all go for Sunday 10:30 am for Race 1 of our 2013/2014 Summer Series.

Regards to all
